Truth and Passion

The motto of Revolutionary Persuasion is Truth & Passion.  It derives from Patrick Henry who is one of my American Revolutionary heroes.  Henry argued passionately against ratification of the Constitution in the Virginia assembly because it did not contain a Bill of Rights.  This was a document that he had argued for, fought for, and watched men die for.  However, it did not represent the whole truth of their experience with tyrannical government.  His integrity as a leader and advocate of the people compelled him to speak the truth with passion.  His concerns were not misplaced.  Henry’s oratory helped to drive the demand for an enumeration of rights as the first order of business after ratification.  The two essential ingredients of that oratory were truth and passion.  So what is truth and what is passion?

Truth  The engine of the train of integrity is truth. Truth eclipses mere facts and encompasses a fidelity to Judeo-Christian principles that God has endowed man with certain unalienable rights among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Henry strove to embody truth in his role as man, lawyer, delegate, and Governor of Virginia.  Friends and adversaries alike looked to Henry to stand on principle – truth.

Passion  The caboose of the train of integrity is passion.  Passion does not override or supplant truth but rather supports it.  It is often said that an audience often does not remember what you said but how you made them feel.  That is the power of passion.  It can, when supporting truth, arouse an audience to do great things.  Henry’s famous line, “Give me liberty or give me death!” embodies that passion.  It is the climatic summation to a list of facts, principles, and deductions.  We remember it.

The American people yearn for truth and passion for they are two of the hallmarks of great leadership.  Thus, our motto, Truth and Passion.

Our job here at Revolutionary Persuasion is to help you articulate truth and deliver it with passion.  We provide the tools and you must provide the desire and dedication to refine your delivery.

Patrick Henry is often called the Voice of the Revolution.  Will you be the next Patrick Henry and raise your voice for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?
